Our society is sustained by steel bones and concrete muscles, its blood is diesel and gasoline, its skin is plastic, and it is fed by fertilizers. All of them are manufactured using fossil fuels. Every year, 5 tons of concrete are manufactured for each inhabitant of the planet and she/he uses, on average, 700 times more energy than a person in the year 1800, consuming the equivalent of 800 kg of crude oil per year. Will we be capable of abandoning this addiction?
